Demand For Technology Executives Rising

Job site JobFox.com is out with a new list of recession-proof jobs. The site says this is their first list since the financial bailout and “general consensus among companies and consumers that the economy is at or near a recessionary period.”

Cisco ASR 9000 Arrives On zettabyte Wave

IBM Ups Internal Storage In Blade Server

One of the common shortcomings of blade systems is the use of 2.5-inch drives. While they are smaller and easier to fit in the chassis, they also suffer from capacity limitations.

The 3.5-inch drive used in standard desktops and servers has reached the 1TB barrier while 2.5-inch drives are lucky to get half that capacity. Many blade systems use rows of 72GB drives.

Apple, Late to the Party — Again

Poor old Apple. Every time it arrives at a party it seems like the caterers are packing away the empty champagne crates, and the cool young things are moving on to the next hot place to strut their funky stuff.

Apple has yet to make an entrance at the enterprise server operating system party. For years, it’s been trying to use its alluring smile to get past the doorman, but success has been negligible: Unix, Windows and the upstart Linux have been happily networking and stuffing their faces inside while Apple’s OS X Server has managed to grab only a few crumbs off the floor by the entrance.
